True Love

I will seriously never get sick of stripes. They fade in and out of fashion-- but I'll forever cling to them- they're a wardrobe staple for me, just as important as a little black dress. I've sailed my whole life (which might have something to do with my obsession...) and I DIE of fashion joy whenever nautical inspirations sneak their way back into style. Magic.

Red Alert

I'm finding myself drawn to red lately--maybe I'm craving more passion in life?
nothing a killer red dress can't fix...

wedding wednesday: meghan and mike

Last summer my dearest friend got engaged. All year I've shared peaks of the inspirations and ideas as she planned her special day--This is the girl I've been friends with since we learned to read... We've helped each other through first kisses, first loves, heartbreaks, teen angst, packing for college {if you saw all the shoes she took you'd know why were BFFs} leaving home, getting jobs, going BACK to school... and so many horrible hair cuts it isn't worth counting.
So the fact that I was included so much in the planning of her wedding really means more than I could ever say.

And now, I am every so pleased to present the Getz-Metzger wedding- from inspiration to reality.

island camping

This weekend my friends and I took a camping trip--to the Norwalk Islands off the coast of Connecticut.
It was perfection--there was biking, boating, bonfires-- and a lot of ocean swimming. Besides making me miss summer vacation, the adventure also reminded me how awesome my hair gets in the ocean- just a quick dip and suddenly the out-of-control frizzy mess {think Hermione Granger} that is my hair becomes manageable. Or at least I think it does... {there were no mirrors around- but my shadow looked pretty sweet...}
So my new goal is to find a way to get my hair salt-water-stylish... without having to take a dip in the ocean every morning... {or- to find a way to take a dip in the ocean every morning...whichever}

Style Notebook- Jellies!

Are you ready for a blast from the past? Remember Jelly Sandals? They used to look something like this:
I would beg and BEG my mother to let me wear them, even though they gave me horrible blisters {my obsession with shoes started early...} Now Jellies are getting a seriously grown-up make over- and the 6 year old in me is squealing with joy {gimme gimme gimme!}

What do you think of the plastic shoe trend?

london 2012

Can we talk about how excited I am for the 2012 Summer Olympics? The next BIG world sporting event now that the World Cup is over... and I adore these concept posters by Alan Clarke:

He says, “My thinking behind these posters was to convey the movement and energy of the games, in a simple yet abstract way.” Perfection.

sunday best

after suffering through 100+ degree weather all week- we finally have a little break-- 90 feels cool comparatively! This Sunday's outfit has a tropical color scheme- and is inspired by a desire to wear as little as possible when the temperatures in the city soar to new heights...
