Pairs Runways for the Springtime

More blue, yellow, and red - this time with tulips! Roland Mouret's Spring 2012 collection brings the pretty back to dresses. They're simple and sophisticated, and a little vintage - but not in a cheesy way. In a chic Parisian-springtime-stroll-in-the-park way. I'd like to look like that everyday. Seriously.

NYFW - Variations on a Theme

So, OK - I'm playing a little catch up here, it seems I'm still stuck in New York even though Fashion has moved on to London, Milan and is now arriving in Paris. But hey, let's talk NYFW and the parade of primary colors that made their way down the runways...

I promise to move on the other parts of the world soon. ;)

Time Turner

I'm not sure if Stacey Bendet's S/S 12 collection for Alice + Olivia belongs in the 40s the 50s or the 60s.... and for some reason, I don't really care.Whichever decade we're in - it's fabulous.

It's NYFW oh boy oh boy oh boy!!

Ah, Fashion Week! That magical time when Lincoln Center fills up with all sorts of excitement, and I find myself in need of a full-blown wardrobe makeover. Here are just a few of my favorite collections that have shown so far this week... Spring is shaping up to be pretty in pink...!

Jenni Kayne KILLS it with this casual-chic collection. I pretty much adore everything about it - the navy, the chambray, the knits, the boxy blazers and silver pumps! West Coast style that's cool enough for NYC.
Oh.my.goodness. It's like we got lost in fairy land and I LOVE IT. Love. It. Super girly scalloped skits and soft pastels = bliss. Jill Stuart is making me want to frolic in a field of wildflowers and snuggle with puppies while giggling and talking about boys.
ADAM's Spring collection is pretty much everything Spring should be - effortless and fresh. Head-to-toe polka dots? Yes please.
Do you think it's possible for Jason Wu to get any more brilliant? Because I don't. How stunning is this mix of black, grey, blush and cobalt?  It's like perfection tied up with a black leather bow belt. And I can't wait to see those gowns on the red carpet.
I'm not sure if I love the giant rose print - it reminds me a little too much of the 90s somehow - but I do love the super saturated colors. And how fun is that zebra print dress?

I (still) Love Lyn Devon

It's been a busy week for me, class starting back up, changes at work, Social Media Week Events, and the start of Fall FASHION WEEK!!!... how's a girl to keep up? (No, really- I'm asking you, how?!)

However, as soon as I laid eyes on Lyn Devon's Fall collection a sense of calm washed over me...
This is what I need fashion to be! Cozy Chic.

The Colors of Pre-Fall

I'm really enjoying the causal elegance of 2011's Pre-Fall collections- not to mention the wonderfully saturated colors...

All lovely. But I think these two are my very favorite so far....

Citrus Details

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if every Spring trend was crammed into one runway show? What about into one look? Wonder no longer my dears- observe Dolce & Gabbana:

Sheer- check, Lace- check, floral- check, leopard- check, platforms- check. And still- so chic, right? I'm impressed. Oh- and don't forget the hints of citrus- which were also spotted in the details of Burberry Prorsum

Citrus themes were not so subtle at Stella McCartney...
It looks like it will be a bright and tangy spring, can't wait.

Inspired by Sass & Bide

New York Fashion week might be over-- but London's has just begun- and after that Milan and Paris- oh my! (I had a professer tell me once it was easy to remember the order the cities show in, as it is alphabetical--I never did figure out which alphabet he was referring to...)

Today I am feeling inspired by Sass & Bide's London Show. The mix of prints, patterns and texture give the collection a life of its own. Each new look feels like a logical progression from the last, the next stanza in the poetic presentation. And since Spring 11 feels like a lifetime away right now, I've found a few current pieces-inspired by the patterns and gorgeous coral colors of Sass & Bide- to hold us over....

Golden Dreams- Elie Tahari

I love when a collection just sings to me. When it hits all the right notes and each new look sends tingles of excitement down my spine. Elie Tahari's Spring 11 collection sang. The subdued palette of khaki, saffron and a generous dose of gold was perfectly showcased in the flirty, yet sophisticated lines of the shorts, skirts and dresses he sent down the runway. And the ankle wrap sandals? An absolute symphony.

Rather perfect, don't you think?

Since last Thursday I've been jealously lapping up every possible Fashion Week detail-- via the New York Times, WWD, Style.com--and twitter. Above all it seems- twitter has provided me with a glorious window to a world I so long to be a part of.  So I've been obsessively checking my twitter feed, drooling over the often blurry, sometimes disjointed twit pics of my fashion week followees. Here are some of my tweets looks so far-

"@harpersbazaarus New designer Whitney Pozgay putting on the finishing touches! Beach chic is her inspiration."
"@womensweardaily Vena Cava's geometrics"
From Friday:
"@harpersbazaaru sneak peak: Peter Som's run of show backstage. Candy colors and mini lengths were the perfect early morning treat."
"@harpersbazaarus- Cute lineup at Steven Alan"
"@harpersbazaarus- Steven Allen presentation is making me wish it was summer all over again"

BCBG via @womensweardaily
"@womensweardialy Ports 1961" {PS- I reallly hope the yellow gown shows up on the Red Carpet... }
And- oh my- this post is getting lengthy- a quick look at Saturday and then time for an intermission...
"@womensweardaily Khaki pants and top at Edun."
"@reyalfashion There isn't one garment I don't like at the Yoana Baraschi presentation."

Don't you love it? I feel like they are all sharing just for me--even though I know their thousands of other followers are getting the same treats as me... check back for more tomorrow!
